Lieutenant General Gyan Bhushan UYSM, AVSM, VSM an alumnus of Sainik School,Tilaiya (Bihar), National Defence Academy and Indian Military Academy takes over as GOC-IN-C (Army Commander) of Jaipur based South Western Command. He was commissioned into MAHAR Regiment on 23 December 1973.



A graduate of Defence Staff College Wellington, Higher Command Mhow and National Defence Course, Delhi, he has been an instructor in College of Combat, Indian Defence Attache at Kazakhstan and Commandant of the prestigious Indian Military Training Team at Bhutan. He has participated in a number of operations and commanded a Mountain Brigade, a Mountain Division and a Corps in Counter Insurgency/counter terrorism operations.



The General Officer has been honoured with Chief of the Army Staff Commendation Card, Vishisht Seva Medal, Ati Vishisht Sea Medal and Uttam Yudh Seva Medal.



The General Officer is an avid reader and a keen sportsman and was the Director General Staff Duties at Army Headquarters prior to this appointment.
