ARMY CLARIFIES ON ARMY PUBLIC SCHOOL JAIPUR CASE

ARMY CLARIFIES ON ARMY PUBLIC SCHOOL JAIPUR CASE

The Army authorities today ,while rebutting the contents of the Press Release issued by General Secretary, Peoples Union for Civil Liberties(PUCL), Rajasthan said that, the contents of the press release are issued with malifide intent to malign the good image of Dr Rajiv Kumar Singh, Principal Army Public School Jaipur.

The Army authorities have further said that, the press release issued by General Secretary (PUCL) has deliberately and mischievously suppressed a vital fact which relates to convening of the third enquiry which was composed of an all Women Committee in accordance with the directions of Supreme Court in Vishakha case. Since the first two complaints made by Mrs Mangla Bhatt were restricted to only disciplinary aspects. These were initially handled under the Army School Regulations. The issue of sexual overtones were raised by Mrs Mangla Bhatt much later in April 2011 and an All Women committee was convened immediately to enquire into the allegations. The All women Committee after an impartial enquiry reconfirmed that Dr Rajiv Kumar was not blameworthy of any offence in the case.

The Principal, Army Public School feeling aggrieved with the FIR lodged by Mrs Mangla Bhatt in April 2011 has filed a writ petition in Rajasthan High Court praying for quashing of the said FIR.

The matter is sub-judice before the criminal court and hence it appears that issue of Press release and Press Conference by General Secretary (PUCL) on 06 December 2011 was made to adversely influence the ongoing case before the Judicial Authority.

The Army authorities further said that, communicating any further details of the case would affect the ongoing judicial process and hence not being elaborated at this stage.
